So, let me just start out by saying how impressed I am with how these turned out! Sometimes when I attempt projects, especially when there is paint involved, they don’t turn out very well. I tend to get a little crazy with paint brushes…Thankfully this was such an easy project, and very inexpensive also, which is always a plus.
The materials to refinish the stools literally cost me less than $20! I was thinking about possibly purchasing stool covers or making some stool covers myself — because most of them were twenty bucks or more EACH! But i’m so glad that I thought to paint them because it is wayyy cheaper.
We purchased these stools off of amazon because we knew that we would need a lot of seating around our kitchen island, but we didn’t want to spend $100 per stool! Who wants to do that?!? Not me…mani-pedi over stools any day 😉
This is a simple post sharing how I took very basic inexpensive bar stools and added a little custom flair. This aqua color is my FAVORITE and I’m trying to tie it in throughout our home… I just love how bright and clean it is.
I purchased the bar stools here – These stools are only $38.00 for a set of two and they come fully assembled. They are very good quality and easy to customize with paint like I did, or a bar stool cover.
You will also need:
Aqua paint – mine is from Wal-Mart – KILZ COMPLETE COAT Interior/Exterior Paint & Primer in One, #RF150-01 Watertown
The first thing you want to do is briefly sand down the tops of your stools. I spent about 2-3 minutes per stool.
Then it’s time for the paint. I used 3 coats of paint because I really wanted a nice solid finish.
Lastly, I applied the polycrylic — I love this stuff! It gives such a nice glossy finish.
I love how these stools turned out and for the price? Not bad at all!
Hope you enjoyed this quick how-to!
Have a great week everyone 🙂
