Summer really flew by this year! Since we are moving our office into a separate space in our garage, we rearranged this guest room to make it into a schoolroom.
Even though we haven’t started school yet, I am really enjoying how much the kids love to spend time at their desks.
They love being able to have their own little creative space.
Right now, Wesley’s favorite thing is to color and Madison loves to glitter glue everything.
Having a dedicated room for school is definitely not a necessity. I know lots of moms that never have used one and they get along just fine. But since we were never really putting the room to good use, we thought it would be nice to make the space more usable on a daily basis. I definitely enjoy the organization and separate room myself.
This navy tufted daybed with a trundle is perfect for this space and it comes in handy when guests come to town.
If you are looking for a simple desk that doesn’t take up much room, these white ones are great. They only have two drawers, but they hold a decent amount. The knobs that came with them were just white-so I decided to upgrade the knobs with some gold ones to fancy them up a bit.
These desks are adult-sized writing desks – they are not kid-sized.
I didn’t want to get something that they would grow out of so soon.
I still have a lot of work to do with this bookshelf. I definitely picked it out for its looks-not exactly its functionality.. but It is working out fine so far. Just need to rework the look of everything on the shelves and make it less cluttered.
These silhouettes are what make the entire room. I think Vonjet Silhouettes did an amazing job and I really feel like they are realistic replicas of the photos we sent in. If you are looking to purchase silhouettes for your home – These are a great option if you want something that will last. They are solid wood and excellent quality. I’ve also seen some really reasonably priced silhouettes on Etsy that you can purchase if you want something smaller.
I cricuted their names onto these desk mats. Once you have a cricut you want to personalize everything :-p!
This year I wanted to try out some other ways to keep all of our books and paperwork organized. I decided to get these black bins and use a different drawer for each subject. So far they are working out great and I love having everything easily accessible and organized. It also makes it easy for the kids to quickly grab exactly what they need for each subject between classes.
For our portfolios this year, I am trying these spiral folder notebooks. I like the simplicity of this over the 3 ring binders. We will see how they hold up throughout the year.
Thanks for stopping by!
I hope this has been a help to you.
