These little guys came out SO cute. They were really easy and cheap to make. I hope that this short blog post will inspire you to get creative with your little ones. I know Wes & Maddie love any type of craft! I hope your kids will like them as much as mine do.
My four-year-old son Wesley made this animal set and my daughter Madison made the girly “sweet shoppe” set. She is only two, but she enjoyed helping me paint the pegs. She has been playing with her peg dolls every day since we made them together. She likes to put them in her dollhouse and hop them around from one piece of doll furniture to another.
Once the kids finished painting them, I coated them with Polycrylic to seal the paint. Then once that all dried, I hot glued the buttons on. I purchased these buttons from Hobby Lobby and just cut the little knob off the back. I’m sure that you could easily find something similar in other craft stores like Michael’s or online. Sites like Etsy, Amazon and eBay have a lot of options. I will place some links at the end of this post.
There are all different sizes of peg dolls. The ones that I used for this project are linked below. I like this size because you can easily just add cute buttons as heads, rather than attempting to paint heads on each doll. I’m not too sure how they would have turned out had I attempted to hand paint faces on them 😉

Such a fun craft we did today. The kids love playing with them! #craft #diy #homeschool #peg #woodenpeg #dolls #pegdolls #easydiy #sahm
