“He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.” Psalm 40:2-3
I wasn’t raised in church. I remember hearing bits and pieces of information about Jesus while growing up with a Roman Catholic upbringing. I attended C.C.D. (Confraternity of Christian Doctrine) for years, and actually completed the program, but never remember anyone ever sharing the gospel with me. When I was fourteen years old, I was at a point in my life where I knew that something had to change. I knew that I could not continue to live my life the way that I had been. I had a pretty rough childhood, and lead a very sinful and corrupt lifestyle. I was extremely unhappy, depressed, and just plain miserable. I really had no peace within, and felt as though my life had no purpose.
I never fully understood the plan of salvation until I attended a small independent Baptist church. It was there that I heard the gospel preached and decided to repent, turn from the way that I was living, and put my faith and trust in Jesus Christ.
From that day forward I was a new creature in Him.
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17
Now I lead a completely different life.
Not because I am so good (I was once in the world, too), but because the Lord Jesus Christ has redeemed me from sin and as I read and obey His holy word, my desires have actually genuinely changed. When I sin, I certainly don’t feel good about it and I try to avoid it everyday. I may be despised by people in this world, but I can say with the psalmist,
“…I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.” Psalm 84:10
The gospel is certainly not just for people who have had a bad childhood or a rough go of it. Eternal life is a free gift that anyone can receive. The rich man and the poor man will both die one day.
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” Romans 6:23.
Jesus Christ died on the cross for YOUR sins, and for mine. That is a gift. Will you take that gift and receive it? In order to be saved and dwell in heaven with God when you die, you must simply place your faith and trust in Jesus Christ and what he did for you on the cross. Believe that He died for your sins, was buried, and rose again the third day.
Being baptized cannot save you. A church cannot save you. A religion cannot save you. A priest or a pastor cannot save you. Please do not place your faith in something or someone that cannot save you. Please do not die without hope.
“I’m a pretty good person”
“I’m religious”
“I’m doing the best I can”
“I go to church”
“I’ve been baptized”
These are all very common answers that people give in regards to what they are trusting in.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9
Good works cannot save you.
Jesus Christ (the only perfectly sinless one) is the only one who suffered and died to pay for forgiveness of sins. When you put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ, God will impart unto you His righteousness. None of us could ever be good enough or keep the ten commandments in order to be saved. We all sin each and every day. Please do not wait another day. Get saved today.
It is a proven fact that Jesus Christ lived and walked on the earth. There is proof of his resurrection. The Bible has never been disproven. You cannot live in peace while just ignoring these facts—living in uncertainty of your eternal destiny. You would need more faith to believe that Jesus never lived, than to believe that He did.
What if you were to die tomorrow?
Do you know where you would spend eternity?
Please do not place your faith in something or someone that cannot save you. Put your trust in Jesus Christ.
10 out of 10 people die.
When your time comes, will you have peace within, knowing that you will be in heaven with God when you die?
I hope so.
